iittala Alvar Aalto Rio Brown Vase 6.25″
Design pioneer Alvar Aalto’s asymmetrical waves (“aalto” in Finnish) won the 1937 Paris World Fair. In the decades since, they’ve become an icon of Scandinavian interior design. Taking inspiration from the thousands of lakes in his native Finland, Aalto’s waves combine function and sculpture. Every Aalto vase is crafted with precision: beginning with hand-blown glass, followed by hand-cutting and multiple polishes from experts at the Iittala Glass Factory in Finland. The Rio Brown shade is one of the originals, from the Aalto series of the 1930s.
